Chaos in St. Louis

13th July 2016

St. Louis 2016 (189).jpg

Broken trees and traffic signs, not working traffic lights, fire fighters vehicles all over the city.

This is all the result of a severe thunderstorm. But actually everything started very slowly. While my day care child, David and I were waiting for the bus, the clouds got darker and darker. One minute after we were in the bus, the first water drops hit the windows. On the next bus station the wind blow some dust into the bus, that people started coughing. Suddenly it was raining in sheets and the night was drawing in. Water was running down the street. As soon as we got out of the bus we ran into a couch and TV store. The stuff was very kind and offered us to sit down on the comfortable couches and watch TV, although it was obvious, that we did not want to buy anything. A few hours later, the sun was already shining again.

Nevertheless, 100.000 inhabitants did not had any ennergy at home in the next days.
